High Sheriff's Award for Enterprise 2009 - 24th March 2010

Cheshire & Warrington Economic Alliance are delighted to sponsor this award along with Barclays Bank, Business Link Northwest, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Cheshire East Council, Halton Borough Council, Northwest Development Agency, Warrington Borough Council and the University of Chester.

Nominations are sought from private sector organisations which are considered to be the most enterprising in Cheshire, Halton and Warrington.  Entrants must demonstrate outstanding performance in five categories and explaine their strategy to ensure that the company will continue to expand and flourish in the future.

Thanks for significant contributions from its sponsors, the High Sheriff's Award for Enterprise represents the highest value of any competition of its kind in the region.  Introduced in 2006, by the then High Sheriff of Cheshire, David Briggs, to recognise outstanding achievement by enterprises in the region who are private sector companies with a turnover of at least £500,000 and between five and 250 employees.

The prizes are:

  • 1st prize - FREE place on the MBA programm at the Chester Business School at the Universithy of Chester
  • 2nd prize - £4,000 cash prize
  • 3rd prize - £2,000 cash prize

To nominate your business for the High Sheriff's Award for Enterprise 2009 please complete the online application form available on the website (link below).  Entrants should include accounts and any other information to support their entry, for example, business brochures.  The closing date for entries will be just before Christmas.

Short-listing of the finalists and a series of visits to the short=listed businesses will be undertaken by judges in January 2010. 

The winners will be announced at the Award Evening at the University of Chester on 24th March 2010, at which a pre-recorded film of each of the finalists will be shown and each company will be invited to dispaly an exhibition stand.  The free place on the Chester Business School's MBA programme will be available in September 2010.
